This charming plantation wedding took place in spring at the Kelly Plantation Country Club. Megan loved the idea of a plantation style wedding due to her southern roots, but also wanted to incorporate garden elements. In my opinion, the venue was a perfect fit. The bride looked stunning in an ivory gown trimmed in Swarovski crystals and lace, I love that she chose a flower in her hair versus the traditional veil. The color scheme consisted of shades of purple from lilac to plum with touches of green foliage. She chose eggplant tea-length dresses for her bridesmaids and had them carry bouquets filled with maidenhair fern, roses, ranunculus, and sweat peas. There were lots of fun details from signature cocktails served in mason jars to caramel apple favors at every place setting. Megan and Nick are high school sweethearts and boy does their love shine through in these images shot by Dede Edwards. I think she hit this one out of the park. Enjoy!
I get asked frequently whether a bride should do welcome baskets for out of town guests. In my opinion, the answer is yes! They are certainly not a necessity, but a great way to thank your guests for traveling to be a part of your special day. A welcome gift does not have to be this huge elaborate basket. Find something that fits your budget, but whatever you do make sure it flows with the style of your soiree or location. Here are some tips and essentials for creating a fabulous gift that your guests will love.
1. Contain. First you have to find something to put your goodies in. Choose an interesting container. The standard basket works fine, but why not a galvanized bucket, gable box, or tote?
2. Color. Choose colors that coordinate with the color scheme of the wedding.
3. Hydrate. Give your guests something to quench their thirst. A bottle of water, lemonade, or even a bottle of wine.
4. Munch. A bag of trail mix, cookies, or nuts is a nice addition to a gift basket.
5. Detail. Stick a cute label on mini bottles of water, a list of restaurants, a guide for entertainment, and of course a tag with the recipients name on it will make your welcome gift stand out from others.
6. Personalize. Items that are exlusive to the town you are getting married in will make your gifts unique.
Here are some of my favorites that I have found while scouring the internet.
We are gearing up for Megan and Nick’s Southern Garden Soiree over here at SPE. With lots of cute details and a pretty purple palette, this wedding should be breath taking. For now, I wanted to share a couple of shots from their engagement session with photographer Dede Edwards. Aren’t they the cutest couple? Check back for the full post in a couple of weeks, I promise you won’t want to miss it!

Margaret and Brad’s traditional wedding was held last November in Santa Rosa Beach. The event was shot by the fabulous Meg Baisden Photography who captured some great moments. Working with Margaret and her mother was such a joy. She had already chosen these gorgeous fig Vera Wang bridesmaids gowns and knew she wanted to play on the rich holiday colors of the season. Margaret is a sweet Georgia peach and Brad, a southern gentleman. We took their traditional style to create an elegant evening. From flowers dripping all over the church to a candlelit dinner full of music we set the mood using jewel tone accents from details in the table decor to the antique brooch which adorned her bouquet. Guests enjoyed dancing to a Saxophone played by Michael J Thomas. You could feel the love in the room!
When Lauren Kinsey emailed to tell us that Heather and Tyler’s wedding was going to be featured on another blog, we were tickled pink! I LOVE LOVE LOVE paper products and Betsey White is one of my favorites. Heather chose a beautiful “love logo” and wanted us to find a way to carry it through her entire wedding, and so that’s what we did!
The following is brought to you by the Flights of Fancy Blog:

The following is brought to you by the Completely Unveiled blog:

I figured I better get this gorgeous wedding up on the blog before the end of 2009, and with 2 days to go, I made it! Heather came to me in the early summer of 2009, freshly engaged, and wanting to plan a beach wedding for fall. I knew Heather was very detail oriented and at first thought this was going to be too much for the short time we had to plan, I was wrong! Heather already had her venue, a beautiful color palette, and an idea of what she wanted. All we had to do was fill in the gaps, help bring pretty to the party, and make it all happen. Her color palette included chocolate and ivory with a touch of antique green. The venue had a tuscan feel to it so we decided to bring in a little mediterranean, a hint of garden, a splash of vineyard and after teaming with Shannon Palin from Fiore for floral, Voila! I have to tell you that we had a cold snap that started the day before the wedding with lots of chilly wind, which you would never know from the fabulous photos brought to you by Lauren Kinsey Photography. We brought in heaters and hoped for the best, but it was Heathers bridal party that truly amazed me. Even though they were shivering and cold, they were determined to make sure the couple had a fabulous time and found a way to get everyone hoppin on the dance floor. What a great way to stay warm, right? So without further a do I present to you Heather and Tyler’s October wedding.
I had the opportunity to work with Lara Casey and the lovely ladies of Southern Weddings Magazine a few months ago on a really neat project. They were working on a photo shoot in Watercolor, Florida for the upcoming issue of the magazine. One of the best things about this experience was the people I was surrounded by. Yes the models were gorgeous, the table decor divine with details galore, but I walked away realizing I spent the last few days with some super talented people. The photographer line was unbelievable (Jory Cordy, Fred Egan, Jeff Holt, and Kyle Barnes) the stylist (Joy Thigpen and Ashley) were seriously amazing and super creative. I also got to meet the lovely Emily Ayer for the first time. Okay, I have to stop here for a moment. I ended up working closely with Emily on her table scape and saw exactly why she is part of Lara’s team. Not only is she one of the sweetest people I have ever met, you can tell that she is very passionate about what she does, and such a joy to work with. I soon realized what happens when you put that many talented people in an environment together, I think Lara called it “Spontaneous Combustion” and I think she was right. I am so honored and proud to say that I was a part of the Watercolor shoot. By no means can I take any credit for what took place, but I can tell you that I witnessed magic in the making and that’s enough for me.
Here’s a peek at the spread, but you are going to have to go get your own copy to see all the other eye candy that this magazine is chock full of!
Amy and Tom came to me to help put together a fabulous southern inspired wedding. The couple knew they wanted the beach as their backdrop and for their reception to be low-key and fun. Boy was it! The venue was an old beachfront condo that had sentimental value to the couple. The ceremony took place on the beach and a backyard style reception with an “Old Florida” feel. Amy looked beautiful in her dress and I just loved Tom in his seersucker suit! Shades of of blue with accents of brown were the colors of choice. We kept things simple using mason jars to house the floral centerpieces and as luminaries to light the deck area. Since the couple is from Georgia, Amy knew she wanted to incorporate the “Georgia Peach” somewhere into her wedding. We offered guest peach tea to sip on before chowing down on a low country boil, yum! Congratulations Amy & Tom!
