Mary + Pierce’s Watercolor-Inspired Tented Wedding Reception

I am always a fan when my couple comes to me wanting to focus on the overall aesthetic of their wedding day, and Mary and Pierce did just that! For their tented wedding reception, they wanted a romantic and organic design inspired by the landscape of the surrounding Watercolor area.

Watercolor Wedding Venue

Watercolor always had a special meaning to Mary and Pierce’s families as they would visit the beach for vacations. Mary and her family would go on bike rides and walks on 30a and always admired this specific area of trees that line Western Lake. As Watercolor holds sentimental value to the couple, it was the natural choice to host their wedding there. We immediately knew that the Watercolor Inn & Resort would be the perfect Florida wedding venue for this couple.

Watercolor-Inspired Wedding Design

The design for this tented wedding reception was inspired by the tree line and landscape of Western Lake, Florida. For starters, we sent photos to Nicole at Every Little Letter, who used that as design inspiration for her paper suite. Along with the trees, Mary was also fond of the local floral & fauna, so Nicole incorporated those elements. From there, we used this inspiration as the base for their wedding design. While keeping the beauty of the surrounding area in the forefront, we were able to create a romantic and organic design that complimented the natural elements of Watercolor.

Wedding Day Details

It sprinkled the tiniest amount on the wedding day, but Mary & Pierce did not let that ruin their day. They were so incredible at embracing the rain and enjoying their wedding day. Thankfully, we got a few lovely photos of them in the park before the rain fell.

Mary’s family had ties to New Orleans, and since they were married in February, which is Mardi Gras season, it was only fitting to incorporate some Mardi Gras into their celebrations. So, Mary’s mother, grandmother, and aunts made handmade masquerade masks for the guests to enjoy. We handed out the masks during the party portion of the reception. It was so fun seeing everyone dancing with their festive masks on. We love seeing our couple incorporate personal details like this into their wedding day!
