Experiencing A Luxury Destination Wedding Venue in Mexico

Private dinner on dock at destination wedding venue in Mexico

Recently, I was invited to join a group small group of destination wedding vendors to experience Etéreo Auberge Resort in Riveria Maya. The incredible FAM (familiarization) trip was put together by House of Joy Events and Epoch Events, and I am so thankful for the invitation.

Etéreo means ethereal, and the resort was just that, a spiritual and heavenly experience. The property was stunning, the staff was accommodating, and the food was amazing. Follow along as I share my experiences at this stunning destination wedding resort in Mexico.

About The Property

The Etéreo Auberge o Resort in Riveria Maya was named “one of the world’s best new hotels” in 2022 by Travel and Leisure. After only a few hours of exploring the property, it is clear why. With a focus on extraordinary cuisine, experiencing nature, and mesmerizing beaches, Etéreo is a place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life in peaceful luxury.

The resort is nestled in the heart of the Riveria Maya and is surrounded by lush greenery and white sand beaches of the Caribbean. With one-of-a-kind event spaces, you and your guests will enjoy a memorable destination wedding on the beach, poolside, or in their open-air areas.

A Glimpse Inside Our Trip

Day 1- Arriving At The Etéreo

As I arrived at the property, the group was greeted by the Etéreo staff with agua fresco and blessing by a shaman upon arrival. Then my guia showed me to my room and ensured I had everything I needed.

The rooms at Etéreo are top-notch notch, with every amenity thoughtfully planned. I had a ground-floor room overlooking the mangrove with a private balcony and a soaking tub outside. Can it get any more relaxing than that!?

After freshening up from travel, I met our group for a casual lunch at Che Che, the resort’s Mexican-Japanese fusion restaurant. Later that afternoon, we did a Cacao Ceremony followed by a private tour and ended with an unbelievable dinner at Itzam, the resort’s main restaurant. The chef prepared multiple favorite Mexican dishes using local and sustainable ingredients. It was indeed an incredible dining experience.

Day 2- Exploring A Luxury Wedding Venue In Mexico

We started the day with breakfast at Itzam. Then, we had an extensive spa experience at the Sana Spa on the property. The spa experience at Etéreo, SANA, began with a multi-stage cleanse. In their modern-day cenot, we were guided through this ritual as we journeyed through heat, water, sound, ice, and rain. After the cleanse, we were treated to a massage and refreshments in the spa’s garden.

Lunch was a private cooking class at Itzam, where we learned how to make Guacamole, salsa, ceviche, and tortillas. It was so delicious! After lunch, a small group of us took advantage of one of the three pools on the property and enjoyed a refreshing cool-off.

Our evening began with a Mayan Calendar reading, which was super fun. We then headed into our final dinner, which was such a treat. We had cocktails and appetizers on the beach overlooking the Caribbean. Then, we had an incredible dinner on the dock, where we sat at a long table under a dreamy pergola with lanterns. All of the dishes for our dinner were inspired by the resort staff’s grandmother’s recipes. After dinner, we went back to the beach for dessert and dancing. It was a lovely evening spent dancing with new friends in a beautiful setting.

Day 3- Saying Goodbye

On our final departure day, we started our morning with a private yoga session and breakfast at Itzam before heading to the airport. During checkout, Etéreo gifted us a smudge stick so that when we burned it at home, it would remind us of the smell of Etéreo and bring us back to this peaceful and luxurious place.
