Nowadays, many couples who have a destination wedding are also hosting meaningful wedding weekends filled with events. The weekend of your wedding is the perfect time to not only celebrate your love but to host friends and family for an unforgettable experience.
I+X’s wedding weekend for their destination wedding at their private estate in Florida was a perfect display of this. The couple hosted friends and family for a luxurious weekend filled with incredible experiences. From the three-day celebration to the custom wedding branding and multiple custom-built tents, no detail was left to spare.
Planning a Wedding Weekend
Planning a weekend of events for your destination wedding for some can feel intimidating; at Shelby Peaden events, this is what we live for! Creating unforgettable memories and experiences through bespoke events for our couples.
When planning a weekend filled with wedding events, we always recommend that our clients start with the wedding day. We like to think of the wedding day as the foundational event where we can build other events based on the couple’s wishes and priorities. For additional events during the wedding weekend, we typically suggest shaking things up with a bit of color or change in decor or venue while still keeping the overall styling of the weekend cohesive.
Hosting A Destination Wedding Weekend In 30A
I+X’s wedding took place on their private estate in Florida over Easter weekend. The couple wanted to showcase the beauty of the Florida Panhandle and allow guests to enjoy all that their property had to offer. So, the ceremony, reception, after-party, and brunch all took place on the couple’s private property. As many guests traveled from overseas for the wedding, it was important to the couple to keep the surroundings in mind. They wanted to provide an experience that allowed guests to enjoy the beautiful beaches of 30A and the natural beauty of the nearby farmland.
Spring Wedding Weekend in Florida
Our couple’s wedding weekend was filled with custom-designed events based on a vision of bringing loved ones together in 30A. The couple had an eye for design and details, so, along with an incredible vendor team, we collaboratively built their dream wedding from the ground up. This vision truly could not have been possible without the creative minds at Myrtie Blue & Soho Event Rentals.
Upon arrival, guests were given a welcome bag to thank them for their travels and prepare them for the weekend. These wedding welcome bags were custom-curated for the couple and featured favorite snacks and local delicacies.
Friday: Night Welcome Beach Party
The weekend of events kicked off with a beach party at the family’s private beach house overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. This evening featured a neutral color palette with pops of blue to play off the color of the ocean. Guests enjoyed live music, drinks, and delicious food stations. The evening ended with a bonfire with custom-branded smores for guests to enjoy as they enjoyed the magical Emerald Coast sunset.
Saturday: Private Estate Tented Wedding
Saturday was the main day of events for the wedding weekend, where the ceremony, reception, and after-party all took place at their private estate.
The production of I+X’s dream wedding day began two weeks in advance, with staff on-site to begin the tent build. When working at a private estate, we typically have the luxury of creating anything we can dream of. For this private estate wedding, we had a beautiful sailcloth tent, custom flooring, and a custom band backdrop with an 8′ tall fresh flower monogram.
One of our favorite details was the custom-built escort display inspired by Alpine Cowbells. The bells tied into the bride’s German heritage and the fact that they have cows on the property where the wedding occurred. The escort display read, “Wedding bells are ringing” and each guest took a “cowbell” adorned with a tag with their table number on it. We love creating bespoke events from the ground up with unique details such as these.
Wedding After Party
Later in the evening, the band led guests to the back of the tent, where we revealed a private after-party. We designed this space with a separate tent connected to the main tent, draped off, and lit in shades of red. The couple wanted this space to feel like a sexy European nightclub, so we brought in a DJ who played Euro-club beats, late-night snacks, a cigar rolling station, and lounge furniture to keep the party going. The guests had a blast and partied until the sun came up.
Sunday: Easter Inspired Farewell Brunch
As the Sunday after the wedding was Easter and most families had come from overseas, the couple wanted to make them feel loved and at home for the holiday. So, we had a local bakery drop off custom breakfast boxes at our nearby host hotel. Then, mid-day, our bride and groom hosted a farewell brunch on their property with activities for their friends and family to enjoy. We brought in bright Easter-colored florals and set up lawn games and bikes for guests to explore the property’s trails.
It is no easy feat to plan a destination wedding; add a weekend filled with events, and you have the perfect recipe for an unforgettable wedding weekend! This private estate wedding in Florida was one we will never forget! Thank you, I+X, for trusting us with your vision and bringing your dream wedding weekend to life!
