Kathryn and Colby said their vows in the charming Seaside Chapel, surrounded by family and friends. After, they celebrated with a garden-inspired Seaside, Florida wedding reception with a coastal vibe.

It was essential to the couple that everything flowed together and made sense. They wanted a beautiful wedding with good food, great music, and a memorable evening with their guests. That’s where the Shelby Peaden Events team stepped in to help make their day unforgettable!

Their Love Story

Kathryn and Colby’s love story is a true fairytale. The two initially met when they attended kindergarten together but didn’t realize this until many years later when they were dating. After college, the two reconnected in Atlanta, GA, and started dating. The sweet and romantic gentleman that Colby is, proposed at sunset at Blackberry Mountain.

A Southern Wedding Tradition- Burying The Bourbon

Kathryn and Colby opted for one of our favorite Southern wedding traditions, burying the bourbon. The legend goes that if you bury a full bourbon bottle one month before your wedding day, it will ward off the rain, and you will be blessed with good fortune as a married couple. After the ceremony, the newlyweds dug up the bottle, had their bridal party surround them, and took swigs from the bottle. It is safe to say that the myth paid off, and these two had beautiful weather on their wedding day.

Tented Wedding Reception At Watercolor Inn & Resort

Kathryn had a specific vision for her wedding design; she wanted a garden-inspired Seaside Florida wedding with a coastal vibe. With that in mind, she chose a color palette with shades of green, dusty blue, and white. In addition, subtle accents of white-washed wood and sea shells were incorporated into the reception space to enhance the coastal aesthetic.

A hand-painted wedding monogram was custom designed for their wedding day. This monogram was featured in their wedding day stationery and on the bar front, creating a cohesive look.

After dinner, guests were invited into the Watercolor Resort Lake House for an epic after-party filled with intimate lounges, dancing, and good times. During the after-party, guests were handed out fun neon props and accessories to keep the party atmosphere alive.

It was an absolute pleasure working with this couple on their wedding at the Watercolor Inn and Resort. We loved bringing every idea to life and appreciated their emphasis on details. Every detail was carefully thought through, from the handcrafted welcome boxes to the custom-designed party hats at their after-party. This garden-inspired coastal wedding was not only stunning, but it was an epic party!
